240Hz with G-Sync if you have an Nvidia GPU.

G-Sync is going to be a worthwhile investment at that high of a refresh rate.

Just get the cheapest one, your CPU is a bottlneck for 240hz gaming though, likely in anything but esports titles. Course not even an 8700K can push 240fps in every AAA game

It's also not much of an upgrade from a 144hz display unless you're a pro esports type

With how fast it refreshes you're very unlikely to notice screen tearing

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Honestly I don't even notice gsync until I start running at lower fps like the 60 to 100 range. At near 200ish fps the frames are way to fast to really notice tear at least for me. I still use it though when I am too lazy to doable it. Doesn't really make much of a difference as far as input lag goes.

It's not worth buying a 240 Hz monitor unless you can drive it near that speed, and if you can, you have no need for gsync since the problem it solves is of greatly reduced severity the faster you go.  If you were playing 40 - 80 fps, sure, but not at 200+

That said, it doesn't "hurt" to have it, but it will cost more...

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Yeah it's basically impossible to see screen tearing at over 200 fps. That being said it is nice when going from an esports game that can hit those high frames to something like shadow of the tomb raider which is going to put you into the range in which it is useful. I would assume the only reason they are getting a 240hz is for reports games as that is really the only reason to get one tbh.

Honestly the G-Sync could be nice but a $70 ish price bump just for that feature, well it's just isn't worth for the money

with around the Acer XB272 price you can buy a 2560x1440 144Hz monitor with IPS without G-Sync
