How does sand break phones and speakers?

so i saw sand go into my portable speak and it seems fine ?

 

but how does sand wreck phones and speakekrs tho beacuse its just like rock and its tiny

That tiny rock is comparably massive to phone speakers.

It's just tiny rocks yes, but remember all the small transistors and all the electricity that has to flow through the phone and speakers. You block any wattage and you lose performance or functionality.

Your speakers dont like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.

So, geologist with masters degree here. The "sand" you have in local beach goes down to 0.2mm in grain size. There might not be much of it in that scale, but 2 mm grains are rather common on even more coarse settings. So how does something small cause big issues? Every heard of ants? Pretty much same thing.

 

Your devices have cracks, seems, and most importantly, ports. Tiny grains enter every crack and seems, block circuits, bent pins or stuff speaker holes. More the tiny grains, more they cause.
