Linus' Recommended 'things'

Can there be a list of all 'things' Linus uses in his vids? I know he shows them and talks about them 'somewhat' in his vids but, it's difficult to remember which vid he used which 'thing' and then go find the vid to find out what it was.

3DMark: Linus uses this when testing performance for video games.

Heaven: Linus uses this when testing performance for video games on the CPU & GPU

I normally see them using Aida64 for this.

mo they use AIDA64 and have for a few years im pretty sure

I've heard of problems with prime95 since haswell and not just on haswell. It's also an unrealistic load that stresses the cpu beyond what is reasonable for extended periods of time. Personally I wouldn't trust it with my system. Then again I guess Linus and crew don't have this concern.

It helps the channel if you buy from the affiliate links in the video descriptions, but if you can't find the video they google (or another search engine) should get you there. 3d mark and heaven benchmark both pop right up at the top of their respective searches.

Unigine Superpositon, Firestrike Extreme, TimeSpy are all good standard benchmarks.

Aha! See, - I saw him use Aida64 in one of his bench's and I could not for the life of me remember what it was called - thanks!!

 

Ps: I still think it would be cool to have a list of all 'Linus approved' software, benchmarks, hardware or possibly even download websites.

yah since haswell I think. I still use it to stability test older stuff but that's it. I miss it, simple, free, open source. 

IIRC it's just avx2 that is (or was) the problem and there's a command to disable it. I think disabling adaptive voltage is another way around this, but most dont to do that. I use do use static, but I just don't want to fuck with it, I had some issues with stability on instruction sets for encoding and whatnot, and I didn't want to figure it out. 

And I don't thing avx2 is the only thing to do this. Pretty sure other stuff too, like FMA. Boinc has problems with adaptive voltage iirc.
