Not Enough PCIE connectors

soManu

is it legit to use molex - pcie adapters? I own a 600w Xilence PSU (non modular) but it only has one 6+2 pin pcie plug.

if i wanted to hook up anything above a gtx 1070 i would need at least 2 power plugs but i only have one...

is it possible to solve this problem by using a cheap molex to pcie adapter or are there some disadvantages... i mean 600 w for an i7 7th gen stock and a gtx 1080 should be fine and the fe card only requires one 8 pin but bad cooler and not available at the time... so could i use these adapters?

That psu probably should be replaced, if it doesn't have enough connectors its normally not up for the task.

Something tells me its not a real 600w psu.

Wont bother with adapters on rubbish PSUs when you have the money for a new PSU (tier 3 or above in the PSU tier list, pinned to the top in the PSU subforums). Besides, these adapters are sketchy made themselves

There is a reason why.

Because its not a real 600W PSU, its garbage that is labeled as 600W, probably like 300W inside.

Dude, you are trying to power a 500€ GPU with a 20€ PSU.

A shitty PSU will destroy your components!

So get a good one so that you can have fun with the PC longer...

Your PSU is crap. That's why it's a "600W" unit with only 150W of available PCIe connection power draw.

Replace your current PSU with something like a Seasonic Focus Plus Gold or Corsair TXM. An i7 and 1080, without OC, will use less than 300W.

|PSU Tier List /80 Plus Efficiency| PSU stuff if you need it.
