WD RAID help

i want to run raid in my system. would two WD red 1tb drives run faster than one WD black 2tb drive. also whats the best Raid and why (0,1,10ect)

if you are reading this you are wasting valuable time and should maybe rethink your life choices.

RAID 0 is striping, basically it puts half on each HDD, increases write(not sure about read)performance, but if one drive fails, the entire RAID is junk.

 

RAID 1 is mirroring, basically gives you two exact copies of the same thing, write/read performance is the same, you get half the storage(2 1tb drives = 1tb of total space)

 

Any other RAID is typically reserved for NAS or enterprise solutions.  Just google RAID if you want to learn about them.

 

 

There is no 'best' RAID, only different types, it depends on your situation which one would work best for you.
