1070ti or 2070

lavablade02

I am helping my friend build his first pc, and was wondering if we should go with the 1070ti or the 2070, we don't have a preorder out for one, and I don't know when we could get our hands on one.

i5-8600k, MSI Z370-A Pro, 2x 8GB DDR4-3k, MSI Gaming X 1060, NZXT S340, 2TB HDD, 750w Corsair PSU, AOC 2775 OC'd to 80Hz and CFG73 at 144hz

Wait for reviews. We don't know how they perform.

the 2070 will be too weak for actual ray tracing in game, unless 720p counts, i'd recommend a 1070 ti on sale.

Does your friend want to spend $400-$450 on a graphics card, or does he want to spend $600-$650 on a graphics card?

(edit: Or possible even a lot less than $400 if he is willing to buy used)

Nothing is officially known about the 20 series performance yet.

I would NOT buy it now. Wait until the cards release, until the benchmarks are out, and then make your decision.

1080Ti can be picked up for $599 right now brand new, so that might be the way to go. Same price as the 2070 if I am not mistaken, and perhaps the 2070 is NOT even faster than the 1080Ti. Probably about on par.

It all depends on your budget like people are saying, you can also get 2 2080Ti's if money is no object, but that is not the smartest way to spend it.

we know the raytracing performance of a 2080 ti is 1080p 60fps at most.

For $600-650 you could just pick up a 1080ti which will out perform a 1070ti and probably outperform a 2070.

no that was a demo of a non finished game that is all we know. people should stop speculating and just wait for the cards and benchmarks to drop

there were multiple reports of SOTR and dice "aiming for 60fps" for launch, meaning they won't get it, and people can speculate all they want, it's fun.

but you present what is just speculations as an argument and facts. so people that aren't as read up on this subject believe your speculations to be true and boycot the 20 series

and the battlefield series is notorious for not being able to handle graphics and new technologies perfectly since they focus more on the gameplay
