School Laptop

I would like to buy a laptop for school. But I really have no idea what to buy.

What I'm looking for:
1. Low specs, I just want it for Word/ Browsing internet / Watching movies and that's about it
2. Low budget ($200-400 CAD)
3. Buying in Canada
4. Monitor size, I'm not sure, it's not that important. But not too small.

5. I don't mind buying refurbished if it's worth it

Have any recommendations?

Have any website links ? I'm really not good on where to buy the laptop.
Also, I would like to buy something that is all set. I don't want to have to buy extra SSD or extra batteries.
I'm buying it for a friend and he needs it ASAP

In that budget look for used locally. You may be able to get something usable. The old thinkpad suggestion is probably as good as you could can hope for.

You are pretty much in worthless celeron or chromebook territory new. At that point pick your poison, all of the options are poor to very bad.
