Are these CPU temps OK?

Hi, I have recently made my first 'build', to just make a machine that I could tinker with, etc. Anyways, the only problem I am having is, the CPU temps. Currently, with nothing running, the CPU is usually around 52-60C, but when I start doing something (Chrome, Steam, etc) it usually goes up to 70-80C, with it very rarely reaching 90C and usually ends up around Low 70s when left running Chrome. I am wondering, is this alright, and not damaging the CPU?

I also want to note that the CPU cooler did not fit on the motherboard at all, so it is currently just resting ontop of the CPU, with no thermal paste (as I have none).

Just buy real thermal paste. Anything. And find correct cooler or mount current one tightly with zipties etc. Right now you could as well take heatsink off and put block of copper or aluminum there and have same temps.
