some people say to buy that psu which is recommended by the gpu model.

which should i go for?

My config

cpu: i5 8500

CPU: less than 100w (more than what TDP says)

GPU: Nvidia cards --> TDP set by the card's vBIOS (search on Techpowerup's VGA BIOS collection for your target card)

AMD cards: Take their vBIOS values, add another 50w.

After all that, add another 150w for other stuff and redundancy

Are they in SLI?

If so they will take about 800W

The system will draw about 200W during a gaming load, but the lowest wattage decent PSUs start at 400-450W, so get one of those. Vengeance 400W, CX450, Pure Power 10 400W, Formula 450W, Straight Power 11 450W, Whisper M 450W or Focus 450W.

The 1060 doesn't support SLI.

400W, because there ain't no good 350W PSU.

As for Models: Bitfenix Formula is  a decent one.

As for the Rest:
Why not go with an 8GiB RX580?? They aren't more expensive and not one bit worse than the 1060 but have +2GiB Memory!

And Ryzen is also worth a thought as well...

An i5 8500 and 1060, under normal circumstances, would probably not even break 200W, but if you wanted to OC the 1060 then make allocations for about 225 or so watts.

A Corsair CX450M should be alright for that system. If you want a nicer unit then go for a Bitfenix Whisper 450W or Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 450W.

|PSU Tier List /80 Plus Efficiency| PSU stuff if you need it.
