Help whit my first build

ziga_smauc

Hi. So I am going to be building my first pc and I need some help. I already did some research and put together a list of parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nWRnXP

So my budget is around 1200€ and this build costs around 1180€ where I live.

On this computer I will be doing mostly gaming and school stuff.

I would like to know if there are any potential problems whit this build, and any opinions or suggestions are always welcome.

Thanks too everyone.

Ziga

Drop to a CX550M instead of the 750W G3, and go for a newer motherboard.

Other than that, all seems well.

There's a german part picker link anyways.

Should buy better value parts in most places.

an an RX 570/580 is a better buy then the 1060 6GB for free-sync savings.

are you only using a single 1080p 60hz display?

I agree with this, also the motherboard does show official support for the 2nd gen Ryzen CPU you selected although it could be possible you'll need a 1st gen Ryzen CPU to be able to update it. What i'd do instead is replace your motherboard with the x470 (Which can be found here). It's around the same price and wouldn't need any updating.

Other than that it all looks good and well! I have the EVGA brand of the 1060 SSC and it hasn't caused me any issues to date nor have i ran into anything it wouldn't run well :)

At least get the 8GB variant of the 580.

Good deal more, not really needed just for 1080p gaming.

Fair enough, but the extra 4GB will come in handy as games get more demanding and if the OP decides to step up the resolution at some point in the future.

Totally not necessary in 99% of cases

Your build is quite nice but personally i would recommend nothing less than a platinum power supply.

Platinum isn't necessary in most cases, plus it's way overpriced. A 750W Platinum unit will run you a fair bit more than a 750W Bronze or Gold unit, both of which are perfectly good.

See our 80Plus Efficiency thread:

Can I ask why do you recommend a newer motherboard?

won't have to worry about an updated bios

and basically all of the X470 boards are decent/good, while some X370 boards have the same VRMs as B350 boards.

Either way just get a Pro 4 or Tomahawk B450 for the best value boards.

it could be possible you'll need a 1st gen Ryzen CPU to be able to update it.

Some of the older motherboards may not ship with a compatible BIOS for newer Ryzen CPUs.

The chances of this happening are very low, given how long the new CPUs have been out, but getting a B450 or X470 motherboard eliminates the chance of that happening at all.

The motherboard you originally chose (the x370) will most likely need an update using a 1st gen Ryzen CPU. Unless you have one, you'll have to buy one to be able to update the BIOS of the Motherboard and then be able to use your 2nd Gen Ryzen CPU.

I made the same mistake when i got my Asus z170-P, I didn't pay attention when i ordered it with a Core i5 7400, and ended up having to order a 6th gen Celeron Chip just to be able to use the Motherboard and update it (the board was native to 6th gen, had to be updated to 7th gen to use my Core i5)

It's overall just a headache you should try to avoid xD

Not entirely true, you can order one from AMD to update the BIOS with.

You just have to ship it back when you're done.

Oh that's convenient, does Intel offer something like that for future reference?

@Crunchy Dragon...I had ordered a 2200g on a b350 pro4 Mobo....but it needed a bios update....I contacted amd and asked fr the upgrade package....it's 8 months now...ND I haven't received the upgrade kit...

@ziga_smauc...look at the build that I have posted above...kinda looks balanced...I HV chosen the 2600x instead of 2600 simply because it comes with a better cooler...ND is a better chip fr just $30 more...

Also...I HV maintained a black ND red colour scheme

Gigabyte makes decent quality boards, that one seems pretty solid.

It's one of the best b450 mobos out there.

Pro4 is mostly the same but cheaper, VRM is the same anyways.
