What cat cable do i need???

I want to have an ethernet connection in my pc but i dont know which cat cable to use.I have a 24mbps connection.Is a cat6 ethernet cable enough?

Cat 5e is the minimum what you want, Cat 6 will be perfectly acceptable.

no. You will only see improvement if you have over 1gig internet or LAN needs.

Cat 6 will get you 10gb. So will cat 7. Just get a cat 6 cable.

no extra speed. Cat5 and above will all have the same speed as you limited by your isp.

Cat6e is a literally made up nonsense spec invented by Cable manufacturers. It has no definition, and no spec to adhere to.

 

Cat6a is the actual extension to Cat6.

Cat6a (Cat6 augmented) is the revision to Cat6. It improved some of the specs, making it handle higher speeds for longer distances.

 

Do not ever buy a cable labelled as "Cat6e".

 

To answer your question: You can use any of the following with no performance issues

Cat5e

Cat6

Cat6a

Cat7

use cat 5e unless you need cat 6 for 10gb lan connections like a file server
