500€ GPUless build for my wife

Just now, FrenchChef said:

Is Semi modular ( the cooler master PSU from Shroud's build) better than non modular when it comes to PSU?

Masterwatt 550 is a solid psu...I have it in many of my clients PC's...I haven't received a single complaint yet...

16gb 2133mhz ram..

Worth mentioning...?

U opted fr the lowest speed ram fr a ryzen apus build...shows how well versed u r in computers...

I know mate. But have u compared the speed of 2133mhz 16gb with a 3000mhz 8gb?

But yeah i'm seriously not well versed with PCs haha. Still new to this.

Okay, so I looked at all the builds.

If MicroATX isn't a problem, then I keep it.

I really want a dual channel with high speed ram. Therefore, 8 Go should be enough. Problem is we can't put 4 memory sticks on the MOBO. It would be wiser to spend more and get 2 x 8 Go at high speed? I know she has a lot of Chrome tabs opened all the time.

For the storage, I thought of 128 SSD for the cheap price. We put the OS on it and voilà!

Now for the extras, is the original case I intended to put: NZXT Source 340 good for the build?

Can we put extra fans or find ways to make the build quieter right now or should I wait in the future?

I bet the 8gb kit would perform faster in games...

Also....let's not make it a technical warzone...

Well you can actually put 4 sticks into mATX.

I'd go for the H500 (non i) instead.

Okay, I combined what I liked. If you have any concerns about the build, tell me.

https://fr.pcpartpicker.com/list/GTH3WD

Question: is the PSU overkill? If I add a 1050 TI I would only need a 400 w PSU right? (recommended watts + 100w = PSU you should buy just in case if I remember well).

2nd question: Do you think a Pentium G4560 with dual channel is better than the Ryzen 2400G? Especially in terms of upgradability in a few years?

Heck. Even 2200G is better than the G4560. (Similar Single Core Score. Way better Multi Core Scores)

550w psu should be fine....

2400g is a better choice....even in terms of future upgrades....also it'll be better in light photo/video editing

I would get a slightly bigger SSD...like mx500 from crucial 250gb..

Also....fr the Mobo... I'd opt fr b450 pro4 from ASRock....simply because...it is a much better board fr just €7 more.

You can add additional blue led fans...ND u'll hv a great setup..

Noob question 1: What makes it better?

Noob question 2: Quiet fans are "Be quiet" right?

Ans.1 Better caps...better vrms...better for over clocking...also b450 pro4 has 4 ram slots....while the one that u HV mentioned above has only 2

Ans.2 Get some cheap led fans from Corsair...they are good

B450 pro4 doesn't need a bios update.....it's b350 pro4 that needs a bios update

It isn't that problematic anyways.....ASRock bios is pretty easy to navigate

Good luck with ur build?

You will laugh, I contacted a PC store to ask them to build the PC for me (since I didn't know much) and I asked for a build similar to that. Here is what they gave me:

  • Case: Corsaire Carbide 100R - Black
  • PSU: System Power 9 500 W
  • MOBO: MSI B450 Gaming Plus
  • Proc: Ryzen 5 2400G
  • Ram: 1x8 Go Kingston DDR4 HyperX Fury PC23400 (2933Mhz)
  • SSD: 128 GB Plextor PX 128S3C
  • HDD: 1 To

All for 657€98 (without Windows and without assembling it)
I am glad I went on this forum and dig a little bit. It took them a while to answer, that's why I decided to search what I could do.

Some msi mobos HV pretty bad vrms and caps...so I rarely suggest msi budget boards...also that psu... that ur computer store is offering is pretty crappy..

Ryzen apus benefit from faster dual channel memory
