What should I upgrade next?

Inversion

Couple of days ago, I had my computer out to clean it out before I go to university this weekend, I'm not really sure what I should look to upgrade next (my GPU is obviously in need of an upgrade but I'm waiting for the 2060 to launch). I've listed some specs below and some photos I took while it was out.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 GHz

MOBO: ASUS Prime B350 Plus

RAM: 16GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2933 MHz

CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 33 eSports Edition

GPU: MSI GTX 960 Gaming 2G

Boot Drive: 120GB SanDisk SATA SSD

Mass Storage: 2TB WD Blue 5400RPM HDD (Game Drive), Toshiba Canvio Basics 2TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive (Other Storage)

Disk Drive: Some generic thing from Optiarc I think.

PSU: Corsair RM550x

Case Fans: 2x Fractal Design Silent Series 120mm, 1x Corsair SP120 Silent

Case: Fractal Design Focus G White (Left the windowed side panel off for the images because I haven't taken off the plastic because It's been under my desk out of view for 8 months but I'll take it off when I get to uni)

I'm open to any suggestions but I'm not looking to spend insane amounts. Most I'll probably spend on my GPU is £500 and any other upgrades should be cheaper, preferably under £100.

One thing I do have planned is to make myself an acrylic PSU shroud at some point, maybe over the Christmas break from uni since it's a month long.

Well I can barely meet the minimum requirements for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. And I'd like a higher framerate for Kerbal Space Program but I would accept any advice for aesthetics

PC seems good enough as it is right now.
I'd recommend getting NVME but that board doesn't support NVME.

I was really impressed by it. I had been looking for something like the Hyper 212 but wanted something that looked better and supported AM4 out of the box.

Is NVMe different from M.2 PCIe mode?

look into getting a better GPU, it is the componet that is holding you back in most games

if you want to wait for the 2060 you are better off just getting a 1070 today.

usually you can play just fine with lower than minimum specs.

those minimum make sure you can run smoothly with medium settings.

your gtx 960 would perform much like gtx1050 as you only got 2gb memory.

that is the first part you must upgrade, get a 1050ti with 4gb minumum, or match the spec with 1060 6gb.

If anything look into the 10 series for GPUs once they start rolling out the new ones. The 960 will start to show its age with only 2GB of memory, which may start to struggle with more recent games. As for KSP, its just not well optimized once you get too many entities on the screen.

1050ti is just a bad value GPU atm. 1060 6GB/RX 580 is minimum

if he wants to spend less than 200$ on the GPU, he can get a R9 290x for the price of a 1050ti on the used market

this is true. i have a 290X and that runs at 80-90 degrees celsius most of the time...

it still performs good though.. so if power is not a concern then...

if power not concern is a beast. but why waste power if newer gpu is way more efficient.

power = heat.

Yes. GPU is the problem for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I'm wanting to get as much as I can for my money so I'm gonna wait until the 2060 drops and probably pick up a new GPU in a couple months or so.

I don't really have the money to spend right now and I'm not keen on buying something if there's a new card coming out that "might" be better value. Chances are I'll be buying around Black Friday or the Holidays by which time the 2060 should be out and I'll be able to make an informed decision.

2060 is not scheduled yet, it may be 2-3 months after 2070 released. can you wait that long?

Chances are I'll be spending up to £400 or maybe £500 if I can on a new card. I'm not gonna be buying something that's pretty much a horizontal upgrade. The lowest GPU I'd pay for right now is a 1060 6GB but I'd rather see how the 20 series performs.

Yes. I'm a student. I don't have the money for it right now. I think I'll be able to get it towards the end of the year if I save up and get money for the likes of Christmas.

Power is a concern. Right now I'm in my parent's house and they have solar, and I won't pay extra for power in halls but when I move into a flat probably in second or third year, I will be paying for my power.
