So buying a new cpu for the motherboard lga 1155. i got a budget of around £100. i found these 3 cpus, i5 3570k, i7 2600 and i7 2600k. all same specs but the i7 has 8 threads instead of 4 and has 2 more MB of SmartCache.

so whats better. more threads and smart cache or higher generation???

Wait, the link I sent is $94 USD. Is it a different amount for international purchase? That should be about 75 pounds.

What's your motherboard? I mean exact brand and model.

If it's a board with no overclocking features then stay away from the "K" processors because you're wasting money.

About two years ago I went from an i5-3470 to an i7-3770 for roughly 90 USD. Since I had a B75 board from Gigabyte with no OC features I went for the non K processor.

CPU: Sempron 2500+ / P4 2.8E / P4 2.6C / A64 x2 4000+ / E6420 / E8500 / i5-3470 / i7-3770
GPU: TNT2 M64 / Radeon 9000 / MX 440-SE / 7300GT / Radeon 4670 / GTS 250 / Radeon 7950 / 660 Ti

K-sku i7s have higher base and boost clocks, so they're still worth it imo

O_o

They seem to have the same, according to Intel's ARK web site. What am I missing here?

My bad. I was basing on the OP's first post who was asking about the Sandy Bridge i7s.

You're correct though about the Ivy Bridge i7s. Base clock difference of 100 Mhz but same boost clocks.
