Laptop CPU looking like a no go. Laptops with socketed CPUs are rare.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

i have a asus from that period, at least to my knowledge they were all socketed and could be replaced, i replaced mine with no issue. I don't see why you can't exchange yours. Only problem might be going from i5 to i7, 35w to 45w.

That's good to hear. Can 45w be a bigger issue? Since, I will have SSD+HDD in the laptop?

P.S. Socket is 988B rPGA. Is it socketed?

1.Update your bios

2.remove the old cpu +cooler

3.be sure to not harm the cpu because these laptop pga cpus are soooo fragile and sensitive (one broken pin and everything is over)

4.place the new cpu

5.put a really small amount on thermal paste

6.put the cooler and fan back (after cleaning)

7.reassemble the laptop back

8.enjoy your new cpu

WARNING:BE SUPER CAUTIOUS,LAPTOP CPUS COULD BREAK EASILY !!!
