Hi all, I'm looking at doing an ITX workstation (wanted to do mATX but couldn't find a board with thunderbolt).

Looking at cases - I want something stylish & preferable I want something with a horizontal motherboard layout, or PCI-E rise.

My first choice (and what I will likely buy) is the Corsair Obsidian 250D, but since that seems to have been discontinued, I will look at other options. On paper the Thermaltake Mitx case has everything I want, but I don't like the aesthetic.

I need

  • Clean aesthetic, preferably with a window
  • Fit full length graphics card (1080TI, blower cooler)
  • Preferable fit full size PSU but not necessary
  • Horizontal or otherwise easily accessible motherboard.

If you can find something that's not the thermaltake that fits all four of those requirements please let me know. If not, I will stick with the corsair.

Thank you.

Get a Core 500, it supports 240mm AIOs

What do you need thunderbolt for? only the most expensive boards are likely to have it.

You can just use an ITX board in a Micro ATX case

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Will be air cooled.

I need thunderbolt for both SDI camera input and for external high speed disk dock (Blackmagic Multidock). It’s non-negotiable - if I went for a board that didn’t have it, then I’d have to pay at least $1000 for a PCI-E 4K did capture card.

And if I use an ITX board on an mATX case then I’m really just wasting space on my desk.

It appears that there's only one Z370 ITX board with thunderbolt, are you sure you can't go ATX?

And do you already have the rest of the hardware? as a laptop would probably work.

I'm aware of that :)

I could absolutely build an ATX computer (my current workstation is an E-ATX beast) but where's the fun in that?

I don’t know about the 380T, but the 250D seems to have, I can only find one for sale in the entirety of my country.

The 380T was discontinued back in 2016, but I know you could get the 250D in 2017 at the latest (because a friend bought one new)
