Agreed. If it was the CPU, then the fans would not keep spinning on startup.

 

There would be a click from the PSU, and the fans would only spin for a second if the CPU was the problem.

the other cpu is going in. i have to do it. that was a waste of thermal paste

It might be a problem with your BIOS not being compatible with the Q6600.

an old pentuim. i forget what one. i know it is quite a bit slower than the q6600

doesnt work. same result. im gonna go over the gpu connetions and make sure. other wise is almost for sure the psu right?

Yes.

Check the RAM too, try switching those around in all the different slots.

ok. there are 4 ram slots and all are taken. so just switch those randomly?

It booted. When it does, it only shows for maybe 15 to 20 seconds. Then its shuts itself off

yes. about 15 to 20 seconds. enough to get in bios. it will only detect the ssd as well, not the hdd

need to still try that. im thinking maybe a little flaw in the mobo because of the years it hasnt been used. or the power supply

Power supply sounds like more of a problem, or faulty RAM.

 

I'm waiting on making a decision on the RAM until I hear the results from a different PSU.
