I have a @1600mz dual channel 16gb ddr4 memory (alienware 15 r2) and in my bios, speccy and task manager says its ddr3, what's the problem? I've had this for nearly 2 years and this kind of problem has never happened

Pc value: 9999999$. Alienware 15 r2: 16GB Ram ddr3, Intel Core i-7 4110HQ @ 3.5ghz, gtx 970m, 1 TB HDD *for games*, 120GB SSD *for windows*.

fastest boot time, 6.5 seconds

What is the problem? 1600MHz is very common for DDR3.

Check through your BIOS settings. 2505MHZ doesn't sound right unless you have a weird XMP overclock. Could be your overclock was disabled for some reason.

I have overclocked using techsources guide, go up in 100 and if it crashes, lower it

The i7-4710HQ is a 4th-generation 'Haswell' Processor.

It uses DDR3 -- more specifically DDR3L -- memory.

It cannot be DDR4; the CPU physically does not support DDR4 memory.

https://ark.intel.com/products/78930/Intel-Core-i7-4710HQ-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz

DDR3-1600 would be correct since the i7-4710HQ supports 1333 and 1600 memory speeds.

Again, we don't know how you are doing this "2505 MHz" overclock for your RAM.

The effective speed is 1600 MHz, but the ACTUAL speed is 800 MHz -- none of those are close to 2505 MHz.

Very little DDR3 RAM can reach 2500+...1600 / 1866 / 2133 are the more common ones.

Your CPU operates a 2.5 GHz (~2500 MHz), and can boost up to 3.5 GHz if power and temperature allows.

On that same page click on the processor link and show us what it says. The point that people are making is the CPU doesn't work with DDR4. The marketing material is wrong.

Check the CPU specs on Intel's site. If you scroll down you will see the memory it uses.

Because the specifications you are looking at are for the 2016 ~ 2017 model.

The CPU is a 6th generation Intel CPU.

The i7-4710HQ is a mobile Processor.

Most of the videos on YouTube talks about the desktop high-end parts -- like the i7-4770K, i7-4790K, i5-4670K, and i5-4690K.

It's like car videos.

Why would Nissan drop off a dinky base model Sentra for review...when there's a limited edition, race-track ready GT-R?

You cannot rely on YouTube too much for any of the mobile, or low-power Processor versions -- Intel usually won't send them out to reviewers.

For mobile parts, Intel can't just ship the Processor. It would need to be a fully assembled/built system.

In that situation, it is all up to DELL / HP / Acer / ASUS to ship out a review sample.
