Nothing. High heat is only a killer for the silicon once you start closing in on its Tjmax. Put the money into another component like your storage, case, or GPU.

Hey guys so I'm building a PC and I was wondering whats the recommended Cooler for the i5-8600 and also which TDP you think it will handle this CPU in gaming.

This PC will be only for gaming so keep this in mind,

I will appreciate any suggestions.

That thing wont put out much heat, since you cant overclock it. So really it depends on a cooler you like to looks of. You would be fine with a CM 212, Cryorig H7, Be Quiet Pure Rock, or anything in that tier.

Stock heatsink. Spend your money on something else.

Get whichever is cheaper between these 3 CM 212, Be Quiet Pure Rock, Cryorig H7.

Personally i'd choose the H7 cause the other are so freakin ugly

Thats enough yes but its a small cooler with 8cm fan  i believe (expect loud fan noise) and the bearing aren't that good..like i said get whichever cheaper between those 3 cooler i mentioned above

Since you aren't overclocking, the stock will be fine. Avoid the 212, or anything smaller, as it doesn't perform much better than stock heatsink.

what do you recommend then?

Cryorig H7 is overkill but looks nice and will run very quiet.

You'd really only upgrade the cooler for better looks and noise levels. Performance doesn't really matter in this case.

Main rig: i7 8086K // EVGA Z370 Micro // 16GB Gskill TridentZ 3200Mhz CL14 // Sapphire Pulse RX 7800XT// a variety of noctua cooling // Corsair RM750x v2 //  Fractal Meshify C

Secondary rig: R5 3600 // MSI B450i Gaming Plus // 16GB Gskill FlareX 3200CL14 // MSI GTX 1080ti Gaming X // Cooler Master V650 // Fractal Meshify C

Audio setup: Audient iD4 // Adam A7X // Sennheiser HD 650 // Sennheiser HD 25-II // Audio Technica M50x // Sennheiser Momentum 4

It won't really matter. Stock cooler would be enough but its going to be louder and the temp will be higher but its still safe to use.

I only care about performance and I thought if I added a better cooler I might extend its life span and I will get maybe a consistent FPS by having cool temps.

Intel CPUs don't work this way. Modern GPUs do perform better the cooler they are though.

Lifespan doesn't work like that. With CPUs its already 10+ years just by running it with set limits. For which stock cooler is designed for. You are gonna feel need to replace CPU before it dies. In real life you can only shorten lifespan and even that usually is seen by OC capabilities being lower if chip is run with high voltages and/or temps for long periods. Which won't be issue with locked chip. To kill CPU you would need to constantly drive it to over 100C, just under auto-shutdown limit.

Noted, Thanks:)
