Gaming/Streaming CPU Needed

I am looking to upgrade my system to have a new cpu and ram. I am looking to stream games like Arma 3, Csgo, Pubg, and Fortnite. 

The ryzen 7 1700x is: $299 CAD

The i5 8600k is: $329 CAD

 

I see the i5 is better for gaming but doesnt support hyperthreading, but the ryzen has more cores/threads which should be better for streaming.

 

I've seen lots of biased comparisons and I haven't seen any comparisons for streaming wise.

 

If someone would answer this for me that would be great.

How about 1700 non-X?

1700/1700x would be a better option for gaming and streaming.

 

More cores means you'll be able to balance gaming and streaming more efficiently and effectively.

Definitely Ryzen. For streaming while playing you need those cores to encode and to render frames in game. That i5 is comparative garbage

Defo go for the 1700X, I have the 2700X (basically the same thing, but newer and a few % faster) and it streams ezpz, 1080p60fps is no problem for it.

How much more would the 2700 be?

That would be my choice.

 

Though you need a 400 series for that if you buy new or know someone who could flash the BIOS for you because you need a BIOS that supports the 2700 to boot (that is a feature of UEFI AFAIR)

Well, yeah, that's a reason to go for the older 1k Series, although the newer ones are a bit better, have higher clockrates, higher performance at the same clockrate and better memory compatibility.

 

 

But on the other hand the differences aren't that big so that it is hard to justify the additonal 80 bucks for the newer one.
