Is LG Ditching OLED??

Buy LG 65SK95:

On Amazon: http://geni.us/A6nLH8

On Newegg: http://geni.us/obBpKf9

The newest and best TVs for 2018 are rolling out, and as usual there’s a ton of marketing malarkey to cut through: OLED vs QLED, quantum dot vs nano cell, SUHD vs…Super UHD? More like ‘Super UGH’…

Never really thought about the margins argument as to why they never got into the budget category. It make sense though. Interesting!

Hey, the XBR900E / 900F / 930E are great. Sony has a lot of good shit in their lineup.

Sony OLEDs arguably have the best image processing even though they use LG panels. I know last year they definitely outshone the LG C/E7 series though they didn't have anything at the same price point as the C series LG OLEDs

My KDL-42V4100 still works like a charm after 10 years. Sibling still uses it everyday to play Destiny.

Yup. My only point was that they aren't even remotely out of the TV game. They still have some great new shit.

They're still in it and coming out with new stuff. But it really does seem like no one is being drawn towards purchasing a Sony TV anymore. Back then they were the brand to get in the CRT and early LCD days. But walk by any Best Buy today and it's mainly Samsung units people are loading onto their cars.

Samsung and LG have the midrange 43-65" sector to themselves pretty much. I see in many stores. most of LG and Samsung's TV model lines are out on display whereas only a few Sony ones are there in between them.

Lets not forget the Vizio P series lol. Seems they have entered the race to with their 192 zone local dimming Qled.

700 nit is "a bit" under 1000? Sure, just like McDonald's is merely "a bit" shy of fine food.

I've personally given up on OLED as a TV/ monitor because they simply cannot solve burn in (even Samsung quit trying). Peak HDR brightness is finally getting there even with LG's entry level models (still a couple of hundred nits short), but I strongly doubt these TVs will last for very long if you watch a lot of HDR content.

OLED's future is probably best limited to handhelds and laptops.

Oneplus 6 | Sony 55" X900F . Lenovo Y540 17" 144Hz RTX 2060 . i7 9750h.

Audio-GD DAC-19MK3 > Schiit Lyr 2 + > FOSTEX TH900 . Sony XBA-Z5
