Low GPU usage in BF1

Problem has been mentioned. Low memory speed cripples the R3-1200 and it can't be overclocked. A320 boards are poor value across the board, should've sprung for a B350. Even the cheapest B350s can OC a Ryzen 3 no problem.

So when Im playing Battlefield 1 Im getting terrible frame even on lowest settings, and my gpu usage is at 20-30% and cpu is at 99%

I have tried reinstalling nvidia drivers

Messed around with in game settings

Windows maximum performance power plan is on

Nvidia prefer maximum performance is on

Turned off Cool'n'Quiet in bios

I dont expect insane fps but i think with my rig I should be able to hit 60 fps on lowest setting but Im getting like 30.

Specs: Ryzen 1200, Gtx 1050 ti, 8 gb ram 2400 mhz

+ my motherboard does not support overclocking :(

I think i have watched or read every tutorial on internet with the same problem and nothing seems to help.

Please help meeeee

Does this happen on any other game as well? Have you reinstalled BF1? Do you have Afterburner (or something else) installed so we can take a look at what the gpu is doing?

If you find any grammar or spelling errors please fill out entry permit A38, thanks.

Sounds like a weak cpu problem.

Or some setting isnt correct on the cpu

BF1 (basically BF3 onward) takes advantage as much CPU cores you have -- especially on multiplayer.

You setting the graphics settings to low makes the game even more CPU reliant.

Crank the in-game settings to medium ~ high, turn up the resolution, and I can guarantee your GPU usage will be in the 80%+ range.

Your R3-1200 at stock 3.1 GHz (even if it boosts up to 3.4 GHz) will hold you back a bit.

Ryzen actually gains a significant amount of performance with HIGHER memory frequency.

What motherboard do you have?

They are using DDR4-2933 MHz memory, with a GTX 1080.

Overclocking the R3-1200 from stock up to 3.9 GHz sees a gain of 16 average FPS.

Other games, other than BF1, also scales better with faster memory speeds.

Going from DDR4-2400 to DDR4-2933 can gain another ~10 FPS in games such as Deus Ex, Hitman 2016, etc.

At a point, the GTX 1050 Ti will be a limiting factory.

it did happen on GTA V but after i turned off Cool'N'Quiet in bios it went away. I have tried reinstalling BF1, it did not help. Afterburned graph: https://imgur.com/gallery/rdrnNZD (game on medium presets)

I have Asrock A320M-DGS motherboard, so overclocking option is not for me since my motherboard does not support cpu overclocking. In game medium settings helped a bit gpu usage at 50% but frames are still terrible https://imgur.com/gallery/rdrnNZD

And when I overclock ram even to 2666 from 2400 mhz my game crashes after 30 seconds when I join in game.

And it is the bf1.exe that uses all cpu power? Can you please confirm.

Have you checked your CPU temperatures (and frequencies) while playing? It sounds like it may be throttling. Maybe a loose heatsink fan, or some dust clogging a fan.

If you want good hardware recommendations, please tell us how you intend to use the hardware. There's rarely a single correct answer.

cpu temps dont go above 60 Celsius, and I just cleaned it.

Ok. Check that the frequencies are also above 3Ghz if you can.

Also, do you have v-sync on? That will usually drop you to 30 frames if you are getting less than 60fps.

Man, that's definitely a tricky one.

You're not using the DX12/Vulkan (I forget which one they have) setting in BF1 are you? It's not really good with nVidia cards.

Did you install Windows fresh when you built this computer, or did you use a pre-existing installation? I'd be tempted to try a fresh install of Windows just to rule out software issues if it's a bit old.

Also, in regards to crosstiger's question about CPU usage, can you confirm under the Details tab of Task Manager that the BF1 process is the one using 90%+ in the CPU column? You'll likely need a second monitor or to run the game in windowed mode to do this.

Game is running on DX11

I installed fresh Windows about 6 months ago

I ran the game in windowed mode, BF1 is using from 90-95% of cpu
