So, just browsing the internets today, pretty nice that there are now G-Sync monitors available NOW.

They should just take my money now. However, the only problem is the price.

Take a looksee:

I just can't deal with companies being so slow at moving the technology forward. I know it takes a lot of money to do so but if they can make extremely high resolution screens for a phone but they can't do the same for a monitor/TV then I seriously don't see another explanation than them trying to make as much money as they can from the current generation until they move forward effectively holding up the development. It's seriously frustrating.

It futureproofs your rig. Eventually, your PC won't be able to run 60fps (or 140 in this case) on the most modern games. This means that you can run at higher refresh rates especially if you don't want to buy new parts to keep up.

And doesn't tearing only happen when you're outputting more FPS than your Refreshrate?

Lock FPS. Problem solved.

i'll rather lower the settings and get higher fps and then save for a newer card. you can expect 3 years from your card but those 3 years you could start a saving account

But with G-Sync, you don't have to lower the settings.

is not that simple, its in the game itself when you drop from 60 to 35. i have seen some tearing but its just very rare. one is tearing and shuttering

Seeing as a few people would have to invest in a completely new card as well, 4k dell monitors are looking pretty good.  I mean, its a lot to pay to take away tearing.  Im not paying 750-800 for a monitor PLUS another 500-600 for a new GPU.  I mean, if you put it that way, 4k is reasonable at 1400 for a 24 inch (or there abouts)

@TheRuke

Hopefully they'll be able to keep higher than 30 FPS; panels cannot go lower than 30Hz because we'd see the flickering backlight. ie G-Sync doesn't support framerates below 30 FPS.

Also, tearing happens when you're framerate is lower than your refresh-rate. It's just usually less noticeable because it happens less frequently.

Rule of thumb, never buy the first generation of a new release product.

Linus needs slick because he just bought that G-Sync monitor.
