1000W KL-1000M, modular, 80 Plus Bronze is going for 94,90 850w version of this is going for 10 euros less

Thermaltake 850W Smart Pro RGB, Modular, 80 Plus Bronze is going for 97,00.

Is it worth it to go lover wattage psu from a brand i know (thermaltake) to a cheaper brand a i have never heard of and higher wattage ?

I have a 8700k and 1060. I also have an aio and some rgb stuff.

I also dont have that much money. Im running a 450w psu. I had to underclock and volt my cpu for the system not to just shutdown.

So any advice you can give me. Im listening

Shit english ftw

No, not worth it.  This post -

Is a good place to start, but generally you want a name brand.  Your CPU/GPU should be ok with 550-600 watts.

Brand is irrelevant - go for the PSU that performs better, is built better, and has better protections. Brand name doesn't power your components - stable voltages do, so look for power supplies based on that, not the brand.

Truth bullet: your entire PC consumes around 250W, or less, under load.

Did you actually get shutdowns? If yes, then it's either the fault of something else in your system, or the fault of your PSU being terrible quality. You didn't say what PSU you have right now so we can't guess what it might be.

Your system uses maybe 250W. You do not need an 850W PSU. An 850W PSU is recommended for those with an 8700K and two 1080 Tis....

A Corsair CX550M should be fine for your system with more headroom than you need for overclocking.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

You know my system doesnt use 250w. It uses about 450w. I currently have 450w and it is pushed to the limits. I also want it to be silent and not cheap out on it and i want it to go on to the future with my system as it grows.

Have you measured the system? Have you measured the output of the PSU?

Have you checked how much a 1080 Ti system actually draws? And have you checked and compared the noise levels of PSUs?

:)

I checked pcpartpicker 6d9ce8536383b184e12ae8be49e766a0.png
https://gyazo.com/6d9ce8536383b184e12ae8be49e766a0

It shows my system uses 354 watts. And i was getting shutdowns even in stock speeds.

Maybe my psu is just bad. And also its loud.

Just like any PSU calculator, the one on PCPP also overestimates.

Here's actual wall power measurements with an overclocked 4960X. The DC measurement will be ~10% lower. Meaning a bit under 240W with the 1060 at stock, and about 250W overclocked.

Here's Kitguru with a stock 6700K. Accounting for the PSU efficiency, and we get ~175W with the Gaming X, and ~160W with the founders.

A quiet PSU will be quiet, whether it's a 450W or a 1600W unit. Just get a good and quiet 450W unit, and you're fine. Since you're having issues, you probably have a crappy PSU.

The Straight Power 11 450W, Formula Gold 450W or Whisper M 450W are good and quiet ones.

No, it uses 250W. A dual GTX 1080 system with an 8700K would use about 450W without OC and maybe 650W with OC. Your system with a 1060 and an i7 8700K, with OC, should use about 250W-300W.

https://www.tomshardware.co.uk/intel-coffee-lake-i7-8700k-cpu,review-34037-12.html

Here we find that an OC'd 8700K at 5 GHz uses about 130W. I know off the top of my head that a stock 1060 uses about 120W. Add about 20% overvoltage (so something like another 25W) and you've still WELL under 450W.

That's a 200-250W System w/o OC.

So your statement that your 450W is at a limit is wrong. It is not.

So i have decided to go with be quiet 600w pure power 10 is this a good decision ?

No, get a 450W Bitfenix Formula or 450W Be Quiet Straight Power 11.
