Buy now or wait

BeefyDaddy

I'm currently looking at getting a 1070ti. The prices have come down and I would be comfortable buying at the current price. I don't currently have a PC right now and don't have the money for the entire PC. I will have the money in the next couple months but I'm worried the price of GPUs will go up by then due to everyone rushing to buy the new cards and then buying 10-series cards once all the new cards are gone. The way I see it, I have 3 options: 1. Buy the 1070ti now even though I don't have the money for all the parts of my computer, 2. Buy the 1070ti once I have the money to buy all the parts and risk the prices rising, 3. Wait until the new cards come out and buy one of those for more than the 1070ti costs but get more performance.

Wait until you build to buy the graphics card. When the 11xx series cards launch you're going to want the latest and greatest. It's also risky to buy a card, not test it, and hope it works when you build.

Never build until you have the money for everything. There's no point.

There is definitely a risk to buying early. I have a pretty strict budget and I'm not really going to be able to spend more than 500 bucks on a graphics card. I also may have the money before the new cards even come out. I'm only going to use this pc for gaming at 1440p 144hz, which the 1070ti does quite well

they have a massive overstock on 10xx gpus if anything the smarter move is having your core system first (you  actually have a computer a not a paperweight), ebay is great for that like i got a 8700k for 280 usd 5 months back or so. Since you do not have a system nor the cash for the system, i would just wait.

Once the new cards drop, if anything, the old cards will drop. Plenty of people will be selling off their cards to upgrade, and their value is going to get knocked down by more powerful options coming out for the same or cheaper.

Wait until you build. If they're not swarming on the 10 series cards now, they're likely not going to when the new cards drop.
