Infrared solar light?

Anyone know if I can find a solar light that's infrared? Basically so I can increase night vision range on some of my cameras. Maybe I could build one...

When you say "solar light", what exactly do you mean? Like a garden light? A light for your deck?

If you want to expand night vision range, you could just pick up some Infrared lights and install them around your property. You'll have to be careful that the lights don't shine into the camera lens though, as it could have the opposite effect (blind the camera).

Also, if making your own, make sure you don't go too bright (intense) with the infrared light, as it can be harmful to humans (well, your skin specifically).

For Sale: Meraki Bundle

iPhone Xr 128 GB Product Red - HP Spectre x360 13" (i5 - 8 GB RAM - 256 GB SSD) - HP ZBook 15v G5 15" (i7-8850H - 16 GB RAM - 512 GB SSD - NVIDIA Quadro P600)

I thought that's UV o_o

Uv is bad too but infrared is what will cook your eyes. Thus why you should wear some sort of light protection even if just cutting metal for example..

Similar to little garden solar lights yes, I have some pretty remote camera locations and I want to boost my view range. Plus it would be nice to have them by the house doors so I don't have to have the outside lights on at night. All my cameras are infrared and are perfect in the day but the infrared just does not go far enough at night. If I can't buy one then I guess I can build one.

this is false, its UV light that is both bad for the eyes and the skin because its a low wavelength high energy kind of light.

Infrared feels hot for us but its not actually damaging its just that you feel it much more then UV

In his defence, Infrared or even visible light *can* be damaging to your eyes. No matter the wavelength do not shine a laser in your eyes for example.

But yeah, no standard infrared light bulb is going to produce enough radiation to cook your eyes.

Welding and metal cutting are what level of both UV and infrared can damage you. Metal cutting is whare infrared can mess with you as alot of people just wear safety glasses with a cutting torch for example.

Basically everything that emits heat is an infrared "light". Heater, cigarette lighter, classic light bulbs, a hot cup of water, many components in your computer

Well no. You did ever take a look at a hot plate - your eyes are still working aren't they? Infrared is colloquially referred to as heat radiation. So yeah if you're exposed to enough of that your eyes will cook, but so will everything else if you're in an environment hotter than 100°C.

"Microwaves" also belong to the infrared spectrum - this is another story and I'd strongly advise against mounting a microwave generator on your camera.

I don’t know the specifics of your camera's but I'm assuming that it is just regular IR. Building one is not super easy but not hard either. I would buy a regular solar light since it already has everything you need and this LINK on aliexpress. Maybe they have them on amazon aswell didn't check. And just use the solar light for parts, it is probably easier and cheaper to get the solar panel, battery and board from those things then the make it yourself.  If you can solder them together it might work, you would need to check the voltages though.
