I'm upgrading my PC with

- Ryzen 5 2600X

- ASUS X370-Pro

- Sandisk 500GB SSD

- 16GB of Kingston Hyper-X 2400hz RAM

- Will be using my old GTX970 for a while then upgrade maybe to 1070ti or 1080 the end of the year

I'm currently looking at Corsair VS650 but that doesn't look very good and it's not modular.

Is there any recommendation? I don't really wanna spend more than $100 on PSU but I wouldn't want to risk cheaper alternatives if they're not good.

Seasonic Focus Gold is the easy choice

But what hardware do you already own? Should be getting 3000mhz-3200mhz RAM, and an X470 motherboard

Next gen GPUs will be out by the end of the year. If you're just gaming at 1080p your 970 is fine.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

The only stuff I've already got that are usable is my case, hdd, and my 970. The rest are more than 5 years old pieces of crap. (DDR3 RAM OMFG)

RAM prices in my country is through the roof rn so I can't really afford 16GB of 3000mhz-3200mhz RAM at all.

What are really the difference between X370 and X470 btw? From my research, it's not a lot and I'd prefer to save a few buck if I can. But the prices different isn't that big so idk tbh.

I'll probably watch the GPU market for a while and see what future gen holds. I still can't afford 1440p monitor anyway and 1080p gaming is not that big of a deal.

And Seasonic Focus Gold is literally not available in any retailer in my country, at all. Seems like our PSU market here is slower than NA and EU by a few years...

For PSU i really do like the EVGA modular range.  The fact they already come with braided cables also makes the whole setup look cleaner.

Can you link us a store you can buy from.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

The X470 board will just have an updated BIOS from the start, B450 is also fine with like the ASrock Pro 4.

And all of the X470 boards are alright/solid, while some of the X370 boards are just B350 boards with the different chipset(average VRMs, ect.)

You also get StoreMI with X470 which is neat.

Just get the fastest/cheapest RAM you can then, Ryzen can benefit a lot from fast memory.

Well, I could actually buy from a different variety of local retailers but the main ones that also have online stores are these

https://www.jib.co.th/web/

https://online.advice.co.th/

As you can probably tell, they don't have nearly as good of stuff as you guys have in the US and EU but this is almost as good as the market can get in Thailand.

I could buy from Newegg and Amazon, of course. But the import tax and shipping fees are too high to make that worth it.

Such is life for a PC gamer in South East Asia.

Would you guys recommend COOLERMASTER MasterWatt 650?

Or CORSAIR TX 650M?

The Corsair is much better, however the 550W would be plenty for a GTX 1080 system.
