Pretty much but I want it to be future proof since I might be stuck with it for 10 or so years

If the goal is to spend $1500 on a PC to use for the next 10 years, I suggest instead getting a useable PC now and then upgrading or replacing the system later.

Spending so much just to make the system light up is quite silly, when it comes at the cost of several hundred dollars and/or a lot of performance.

Something like this would last you for a good while, and have plenty of upgrade options. You could also save more on the system by swapping the platform to Raven Ridge.

Welcome to the forum! You can build a much better computer for the money, and there's no reason to be spending $280 on that case; that's insane.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor  ($244.99 @ Memory Express)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! - Dark Rock 4 CPU Cooler  ($82.10 @ Newegg Canada Marketplace)
Motherboard: ASRock - X470 Master SLI/AC ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($163.50 @ Vuugo)
Memory: Team - Night Hawk RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($219.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Storage: Crucial - MX500 250GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive  ($85.42 @ Amazon Canada)
Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($49.95 @ Vuugo)
Video Card: Asus - Radeon RX 570 4GB ROG STRIX Video Card  ($287.87 @ Amazon Canada)
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($100.75 @ Vuugo)
Total: $1234.57

This build doesn't have the case included, but it shouldn't cost any more than $150.

It has a much better graphics card, RGB RAM, and a much better SSD. If you need more storage there's a little play in the budget.

He wants RGB RAM. There's nothing wrong with that.

The H500 case without mesh is an absolutely awful case though...

There's no such thing as futureproof, and few things last 10 years. You'll have to upgrade something within that time, unless it's just for office work.

Coolermaster announced the new H500 same price as h500p but updated I think that I might use that instead of H500M, H500P or H500P Mesh so many H500s!
