HP unveils Z2 Mini G4 SFF Workstation with Up To 6 Core Xeon and Up To AMD Radeon Pro WX 4150 with 4GB GDDR5

AlTech

HP has unveiled their new Z2 Mini G4 Small Form Factor Workstation PC with Up To a 6 Core Xeon and Up To an AMD Radeon Pro WX 4150 GPU with 4GB GDDR5 VRAM.

The CPU Options are i3/i5/i7 Quad Core or 6 core 8th Gen for the Entry Level Model or 4/6 core Xeon E for Performance Model.

The Z2 G4 has 2 SO-DIMM slots with Up To 32GB DDR4-2667.

The entry-level model features Intel UHD Graphics 630 with the Performance Model featuring several MXM dGPU options.

The dGPU options for Performance Model are:

  • Nvidia Quadro P600 with 384 Cuda Cores and 2GB GDDR5 VRAM
  • Nvidia Quadro P1000 with 640 Cuda Cores and 4GB GDDR5 VRAM
  • AMD Radeon PRO WX 4150 with 896 Stream Processors and 4GB GDDR5 VRAM

For storage options, the Z2 Mini G4 has Up To 1TB PCI-E NVMe SSD and also Up To 1TB HDD.

The Z2 Mini G4 features the Intel 9560 AC Wireless Chipset providing Bluetooth 5.0 support and 802.11ac 2x2 Up To 1.73Gbps.

Unfortunately, both USB-A ports are 5Gbit 3.0 and not 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbit.

Also, the DisplayPort 1.2 ports are disappointing considering that the Pro dGPUs support DP1.4.

The asking price for the Entry level model does seem quite steep imho.

So yeah, good stuff although the dGPU choices seem quite weak and the number of different configurations does seem a bit excessive.

Support and certifactions. And in a buiness the hardware cost is normally a small part of the total budget.
