a gtx 980 would definitely increase your fps, and for around 150 is a really good price.(i would do it) but be careful, that you dont buy a gpu that has been used for mining...

If you check that the card is working fine, and it's temps are under control then yeah sure. (You can also use the GTX 1050 And the 980/70 in EMA to boost performance. You don't need to have a mobo that supports sli nor you need to have the same card. Here's a video if you wanna see a more in depth explanation

i thínk that he does not need that, i he buys a 980. it`s still not a bad card, i only would do this if you have a low gpu, because also the power consumption is higher

Honestly you could probably find a 1060 6gb for around the same price as those whcih is still a very capable card. If I were you I would wait till the 1100 series cards comeout for people to be selling there 10 series for less or just if you can save enough by that time to get an 11 series.

I don't know of any way to check a card has been used for mining. Also, what's the problem with a mining card then?  I and many others I know look after our cards that are mining, have adequate cooling and TBH are probably less abused than "gaming" cards, as we want stability over anything else.

Honestly I have no problem with mining cards. Linus did a comparison on heavily used cards and a new card and everything is the same. So I don't think there's a difference, but you can use the "it's Mined on" to save a buck.

1050 is like a 960 or 970 if I’m not mistaken.

The 1050TI is supposedly right between those 2 so I wouldn’t upgrade for a generation or 2.

Edit:

my conclusion is no because there’s not a huge improvement in performance.

Agree, I personally wouldn't "upgrade" at the moment... I would wait for the new cards to come out from Nvidia, however long that is. But they should be worth the wait, the performance upgrade would be much more substantial than an older card IMO.

The GeForce page for the 970 shows it performing better than the 1050 and 1050 ti

It's not a huge improvement.

The FPS values aren't too far away in this video

By all means it's your money, but I would wait.
