60Hz Woes

Go to solution Solved by bradscoolio,

The Asus VG28QE is definitely the monitor you wanna be looking at at the moment. I have the BenQ XL2411T another 144hz panel monitor (the same panel actually) but the Asus comes with a display port for the ability to upgrade to g-sync in future.

Colors are soo shit but it's lightning fast! It's the best monitor you can get for competitive fps

So i have a cheap 23 inch monitor from LG, 23.6 to be precise.

And it does good for an office monitor.

But i play Quake Live, and now my skill is only being held back by how many frames i can see.

My GPU can do 250 fps out stable, 126 stable with streaming.

My monitor however, is capped at 65 hz (highest OC i can get working)

So i have worked up 200 dollars, what should i get?

All the 120hz gaming monitors are way to expensive, and I heard that 60hz korean monitors can be OCed to 120hz.

What is your guys' thoughts on what i should get? :/

My monitor was on sale for 120 bucks.

I'd personally get a nice looking IPS panel instead of a crappy looking high frequency TN panel.

If you must go 120/144hz, get the XL2420TE.

This looks good, but 200 dollars more :/

Also what is the difference between a 120hz 3d gaming ready monitor (with the default refresh at 120hz) and a monitor with 120hz max refresh rate? It is so hard to look for a max refresh rate of 120hz.

Namely because most sellers dont even LIST the refresh rate!

3d gaming ready just means it's been certified or something like that. Just because a monitor doesn't say 3d ready doesn't mean it's not 3d capable.

couldnt get past this line. thats just wayyyyy to funny man

Well, I know my friends who have 30+ LG and up to 47 LG. And they both have 120 hz monitors. The 30+ one said that on 60hz he was doing only 27 LG. (Which is usual) Then when he got his 400 dollar monstrosity of a monitor, he gets 34-35 LG. So I was hoping it would improve my game aswell.

If you dont play Quake Live: LG = Lightning Gun, and the numbers are the percentage of hits/shots.

If not, i can always return it and buy a new CPU, my stream is held back to superfast preset on OBS because of it.

Well, the 3d monitors are expensive. Upwards of 400 bucks, but I have seen some Samsung panels that do 120hz max for $230.

Also, why are there no small TV's with 120hz around? Only like 50" or something ridiculous.

'120 hz' TV's usually aren't really 120 hz anyway. They just use extra flickers to smooth out the 60 hz signal they take in and call that a higher frequency.

Oh i see! Like a mid-step? I know HDMI is capped at 60fps. But is there no way around the huge 400 dollar mark for a decent monitor? :/

I have never spent more than 200 on a monitor bfor, and just buying this new K70 was such a GD hassle. 4 stores all sold out, now i need to contact corsair for the parts it came without...

And further i got ridiculed for buying it. So i will absolutely not prefer to buy anything over 250.

All my google searching is only coming up with: either 120hz 400 bucks, or 60hz 150 bucks.
