I am building my new pc in the NZXT H700 case and I plan to get NZXT Kraken x62 for my Ryzen 2700x but this is my first time ever using AIO, so I am not sure about if it is better to mount the radiator at top as output or on the front as intake.

Is there actually much of a difference?

CPU: Ryzen 7800X3D; CPU Cooler: Noctua U12A chromax + NA-HC8 chromax; MOBO: Gigabyte B850M Aorus Elite Wifi6e; CASE: A3-Matx Lian Li Dan Case Wood/Mesh edition; PSU: SF1000 (2024); RAM: 2x16 GB DDR5 Kingston Fury Beast 6000/30cl Expo kit; SSD#1: 1 TB 9100 PRO; SSD#2: 2TB 990 PRO; GPU: RTX 5080 Asus x Noctua; Case fans: 1x A12x25 G1, 2x A14x25 G2 chromax; OS: Win 11 Pro

Should buy a case that actually has airflow like the RL06 Pro or H500 from coolermaster, Krakens are overpriced coolers for the performance.

Or get the H500 if you must have a case like that., doesn't matter where your AIO goes really, unless it can get access to mesh in which case you want the intake there.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Negligible difference in temps, whatever fits cleanly, do that.

rookie mistake indeed! You should always mount the CPU cooler on top of the case as an exhaust. It makes little difference for the CPU temps which is not sensitive to temperature difference unless it hits the tj max, but increases the temperature of the intake air if it's mounted in the front, which can have anywhere from 5 to 10c difference on the GPU temperature, and GPUs are far more sensitive to that kind of temp difference, so you'll lose performance as your GPU clocks drop.

Awe you called me a rookie. I'm used to being called old-man or codger. And no, it does not make that much difference. I've built them both ways. Next time I do one, I'll be happy to do both and post temps. But MANY others have done it both ways and posted temps. Jays2Cents just did a video about it. BitWit has done it. You're spreading outdated wives tales. A 65W or 95W TDP CPU isn't going to increase the case temperature by more than 1-2C as absolute maximum.

The NZXT H700 and its mid sized brother (H400) have pretty ok airflow and definitely better airflow than the H500 from NZXT. The H500 has only single mounts on the top and in the back while the front is only vented through the bottom and the left side of the case. The H700 has more mounting places even for rads and more vents for the front just like the H400. The H500 works via negative pressure accumulating more dust.

Main point is it being half the price, radiator can just mount in the front. Should really just buy a case with actual airflow though.

My main point was: the front on the H500 is badly vented, the H700 has pretty decent vents and airflow.
