So while is was changing out the thermal paste on my dell inspiron 5558 I noticed something cool and very interesting on the motherboard. Here's some info on the laptop, it has interrogated Intel graphics which is a hd 4400 to be precise and a intel core i3 4030u. So on the motherboard i noticed a spot in one of the corners that it had a bunch of unused solder points. I took a closer look and saw lettering that said Gpu1 and on two sides of that, Vram 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. Four on each side of the motherboard. Obviously there is no GPU in that spot. I wonder if enough thought went into it and enough work, could you hand solder a GPU chip and vram onto the motherboard. Its just a thought that popped into my head. If you would like a picture I would be happy to show.

well first of all if its impossible i would say its kind of not possible.

in this case i would say it could be done if you have all the tool and you can get the exact matching parts for this motherboard but its very unlikely that they sell them separately.

Well, not really sure. If the motherboard supports ports for a shared GPU by having more PCIe lanes and compatibility with the chipset, it might be possible but no one would do that as if your motherboards support wifi card through mini PCIe connector, you can easily swap a mini PCIe to full-sized PCIe connector and put a good GPU with an external PCIe bus and power.

console.log("way to pro");

Yes, you could - provided you knew exactly what GPU/VRAM is supposed to go there (I believe it should be a 920M judging from what variants of that laptop were available) and had the tools necessary to do it without damaging the rest of the board. However, it's possible that to actually make it work you'd need other components on the motherboard that you may not know of.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨
