So my computer came with windows 7 (which I have the product key for) then I upgraded to windows 10 when microsoft was doing the free upgrade.

If I was to re-install, how would I activate it? I can't seem to find the license key anywhere (for the windows 10 copy)

if it came with it its probably an oem, they automaticly activate

just insert the key on ur sticker to get a downloadable iso

if u cant retreive the key use this vb script

pk.vbs

the file i given is not made to steal keys, so dont abuse it lol

If you've installed Windows 10 once on your hardware, you can just install it normally and click "I do not have a product key" during install. It automatically activates when connected to the internet.

@Mornincupofhate

and if this doesn't work, enter your windows 7 product key when activating. It'll go through.

Just make sure to select the right version windows.

It will activate itself, it remembers what motherboard it was installed on.

If you want to be extra safe then do this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/20530/windows-10-reactivating-after-hardware-change

Win 10 keys are stored in the BIOS. When you reinstall it will auto re-activate. If it doesn't you can use your 7 Key as they are converted when the upgrade happens. However it's pretty rare that it doesn't 'just work'.

Hi

To check the status of your windows , if you want to know if you have an official  version go :

Start

Setting

System

About

Then go -> system info <- at top right corner

You product ID ( Key ) and confirmation of registration  ( windows is activated )   should be at bottom of page
