Should I trust this brand? (Power Supply)

Yah I don't think that will require 850watt putt your parts together on PcPartPicker and it will tell you your tdp just add a few watts to that for some overhead, buy from a reputable manufacturer like Corsair and apparently XFX and you should be fine.

When I put in my components on another site (thermaltake), it said that my total would reach around 730W.

I really don't understand how I would calculate the Wattage I need for my power supply without using a calculator?

Efficiency of the said unit is often not taken into account, 650 watts at the wall for a 80 plus unit will be around 500 watts of actual use (generic guess).

Calculators are fine but they give you what they recommend, if they recommend 850w you have to use a little common sense and understand the components

Well try it on pc part picker I think Thermaltake may be a bit off, I remember using it and it gave me super high watts

I'm guessing you already got the answers to your question whether this XFX psu is a good one or not. I just wanted to share with you that Linus is only using XFX psu for his personal rig and he personally also recommended that psu brand.

This is my result with the Thermaltake calculator, all fans included, 5ghz CPU OC, and the R9 290, it seems closer to what i would guess for my system.

I'm running a 5ghz OC, and the 290 pulls a decent amount on it's own, how is 552 unacceptable? i used to run 480's in SLi, you want to talk about unreasonable?

just saw-reccommended PSU wattage. yeah thats more like it. a 550W psu not that it use 550W.missread

I never said that, i just stated it is reasonable, and yes, you read it wrong

Both of you recommended a brand you have both never heard of, and go by it's efficiency rating, this tells me and any self respecting person in the know, you should not be giving recommendations until you research more.

 

You may as well tell him to get a Raidmax 80 plus unit and then explain why his PC fried.

 

 

However in this case, the XFX is excellent.

XFX don't even build them, all they do is stick their logo on it but since Seasonic build all of their PSU's for them, you can't go far wrong with them

also @OP it really is a fine brand im using a CoolerMaster PSU and people on LTT have been telling me that CoolerMaster makes not so good PSUs but so far nothing blew up .

Antec Corsair XFX all made by seasonic.

All XFX's are seasonic, however Corsair uses several different OEMS.
