2TB HDD

thats your problem, you really want a ssd here.

Check hdd smart data aswell with something like crystal disk info.

For some reason Windows 10 seems to not like HDDs anymore in my experience. My old laptop did the same until I switched to an SSD.

Crystal: CPU: i7 7700K | Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix Z270F | RAM: GSkill 16 GB@3200MHz | GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti FE | Case: Corsair Crystal 570X (black) | PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 1000W | Monitor: Asus VG248QE 24"

Laptop: Dell XPS 13 9370 | CPU: i5 10510U | RAM: 16 GB

Server: CPU: i5 4690k | RAM: 16 GB | Case: Corsair Graphite 760T White | Storage: 19 TB

it mite be worth migrating your OS to a SSD and using HDD as a storage(movies games etc). While there are a number of issues that can causes this from programmes like Skype to storage driver settings there is no quick solution. my advice is work thru these examples systematically with pen and paper making notes of what works and doesn't.

That's every laptop with Windows 10 and a 5400rpm drive. Upgrade to an SSD or AT LEAST a 7200rpm hard drive.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

Usually this effect is because you are missing your SATA drivers, or chipset controller drivers (may include SATA drivers). Make sure those are installed.

Get the ones directly from chip manufacture.

Once installed restart your system, and now it should help.

But yes, like other have said 5400RPM HDD is terrible these days. It should not even in consideration to be honest.

If you need the capacity, get a 120-256GB SSD, to put Windows and programs, and the data on your HDD if you can.

If you are on a laptop, which I see you are from the CPU model, and you really need the space, then consider a large SSD instead.

Also your Windows version is incorrect. you have 1709 and then 1803.

Are you on the Insider Preview program and are you mentioning a build number?
