AM4 mounting bracket?

Froody129

I'm looking at a used combo of an X370 Taichi and an 1800X. The seller says the motherboard is missing the cooler mounting bracket. Is this something that's easy to get? It's a pretty good deal but I'm not sure if I should be worried about this

Thanks for any help

I think they are talking about the stock mounting solution that you have to remove unless you are using a cooler that uses those clips. If you do need it, you can get it off amazon. Personally speaking, I use the X370 Taichi with the 1800x and love it. Its a great combo.

What cooler are you using? The 1800X doesn't come with a stock cooler, so the previous owner must have gone with something else which would have replaced the backplate anyways.

I'd be buying a cooler: probably the Phanteks TCP14 (I think that's the name). Does a backplate come with the cooler?

Phanteks doesn't mention AM4 as compatible on their website, so it wont work with it anyways.

Oh, I see. Assuming I get one that is listed as compatible then; they come with the bracket?

With the age of AM4, I would assume so. But if a store has a model they received for example a year ago, it might now have it. Most manufacturers of coolers will supply an AM4 bracket if you just show them an invoice of your order.

Yes, most of the time. If store page says its compatible, then it comes with bracket. You can ask from manufacturers directly if they support socket or not.

That would be issue with used parts. They would require original invoice from store parts were purchased from. But that will only rule out getting bracket for free. One can still buy it, usually those are like $10-15.
