i really don't think they'll wait that long, PS4 and PS4 Pro is already showing its age, i think 2020 is the max.

but considering the PS4 Pro was released only 2 years ago it would be really weird to release the PS5 in 2019... they shouldn't have released it and just went straight to PS5.

but again this is a fantastic time to release the PS5 because of Ryzen and Vega, probably late 2019 or early 2020.

don't really know how the CPU will handle games until 2021, kinda of a stupid move tbh, problem is, whatever the PS4 can handle the PC version only gets a slight upgrade, so it's kinda limiting PC games in a way, not all of them, but most of them.

i just hope Cyberpunk is not following that idea, i want a fully feature packed game, immersive and detailed with tons of shit, but i don't know if they'll go that route, it would mean that the PC and PS4 versions are very different, and people won't like that.

In what way has console gaming held back PC gaming that isn't related to graphics?

when i said "whatever the PS4 can handle" i meant in terms of GPU and CPU, but its holding back PC gaming in terms of CPU too... i mean seriously you can pickup an i3 from 2013 and play all games at 30 or 60 FPS easily...............because thats what the PS4 can handle. (don't include the horribly unoptimized games), we have gone a loongg way in terms of CPU performance, and we only upgrade because we want more FPS not because the game is CPU intensive.. i've had the A8-6600k (horrible CPU worse than old i3) with an R9-280 for the last 4-5 years, and it played every game beautifully (1080p ofc), and i still don't have the need to upgrade my R9-280 because it's also holding up very well. (i guess thank you sony?)

pick any optimized game and i assure you an ancient i3 will handle 30-60 FPS.
if the PS4 wasn't holding PC gaming back then an i3 will struggle but it isn't struggling compared to the PS4 isnt it...

Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War both look amazing and still are able to maintain a smooth frame rate.

As I said, something not graphics related. You pointed out graphical related things. If the CPU in the consoles are holding back what sorts of things we can do game mechanics wise, then I'm interested. But if it's graphics related then I'm not.

God of War does look good, but it's not something we haven't seen before... look at Destiny from 2014 or Rise of the tomb raider from 2015... no improvement there.

i gave you an example of an i3 how is that graphical related? you think if a game looks better then its graphical related? there's lots of things a CPU can do.

for example the density of enviroment, how much detailed the enviroment is, but we're not creating any more dense or detailed enviroments since the PS4 released now are we.

or for example particles are CPU related too, moving objects from wind for example, or interacting with objects so they're physics related, that would make the game so much more immersive. (yes i know those things exist already but weakly implemented because of CPU limitations)
basically anything physics related is gonna be the CPU's task.

why do you think Crysis is so famous for being hard to run? because that was a PC exclusive game back in 2007, was hard to run back then, and even challenging to run so many years after, and if you ever played Crysis 1, 2 or 3 then you know how much physics that game has.

They will make use of 6/8 CPU cores then?

exactly, current 6 core or 8 core, not that shitty Jaguar 8 core.

you would think a GTX 1060 would destroy a 2007 game, but it isnt "destroying" it, sitting at 80 FPS average and going down to the 60's is not really something to be proud of.

thats the best example of what a PC can do.

Does any one think PS5 with launch in 2019 because I do. If you follow PS launch cycle if is about time too.

Sony talked about that more or less.

Its to be expected end of 2020, maybe even 2021.
