Question about having a Beast video card in an older PC

Hello,

My computer specs are i7 3770k CPU, 16gb ddr3 ram, ASUS P8Z77-V mobo, 1000w gold series psu etc...

If I get a 1080 ti GPU for this potato, will it run at 100% performance or would I only be getting like 70% performance out of it?

Thanks,

Depends on the game, but many games will likely be limited by CPU performance. The 3770k is not bad even by modern standards though - so if you plan to upgrade the cpu but keep the GPU at a later time, I think it makes sense.

Also your motherboard has at least one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot - so you'll only be limited by what the rest of your setup can perform :)

No you need to upgrade to ur basically everything except PSU you need at least 4gb ddr4 ram to just run the 1080ti and it's mentioned on the box and then to support the ddr4 ram you need a new motherboard that supports ddr4 memory and then you at least need a 5th gen processor to run the beast which is also mentioned on the box. Best thing is get a 1070ti which will give around 12 fps on average lower on 4 k 17 fps at 1440p and 20-23 fps at 1080p . And the rest of your computer at a 1080 to with you current setup will give around 50-60% its power and I don't think that the PCIE cable is there on the motherboards that support DDR 3 that the 1080 ti needs.

You're funny....

You should be fine, though in some titles you will probably be bottlenecked by your CPU, not by much though. Overclock your CPU for best results.

Oh and don't listen to @Kushagra_kj10 He either doesn't know what he's talking about or is a troll.

Not at all, you can run a 1080ti on any system with zero regards to the amount of ddr4, or any lack thereof

But m8, 5th gen processors are DDR3 based! o.O

Try 90 - 95% of the 1080ti's capabilities

What???????  OP has a 1kilowatt PSU, it has enough PCIE cables for 4 1080 ti's, and ATX PSU's haven't changed in more than two decades!

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

All the dudes forgive me it was my 12 year old brother who just started watching Linus tech tips on YouTube and is now writing all the shit he knows even if it's senceless. He knew I had a Linus account so he asked for my phone and found this topic to be the first on pc build section and just wrote absolute shit. Kindly forgive me and my idiotic brother.
