Hyperreals :: What are They?

TopHatProductions115

Has anyone here worked with, or heard of, hyperreal numbers? If so, feel free to comment below with your understanding of this numeric field. Okay, get serious - no more derailing down there ;) @Jtalk4456

I know that calculus works because they're consistent.

I mostly encounter them in calculus, because they make a lot of the notation for proofs and arguments way cleaner than they would otherwise, as well as simplifying the logical steps you have to do.

Outside of notation, I really just treat them as behaviors, not numbers -A function or sum doesn't result in infinity, it grows without bound.

Why do you ask?

"Do as I say, not as I do."

-Because you actually care if it makes sense.

Because I'm interested in working with that field of numbers.

@wasab They're the numbers you learn in math class while you're high

Insanity is not the absence of sanity, but the willingness to ignore it for a purpose. Chaos is the result of this choice. I relish in both.
