Stupid question but curious

I was upgrading my motherboard and CPU and also getting another 1080 to SLI. But I've encountered a problem that I over looked when planning. My Wi-Fi card wont be able to go into the proper slot due to the size of the cards. I was wondering if the Wi-Fi card would work in a full size slot, stupid question but still curious.

Please feel free to blast me with the replies. Thanks.

If it physically fits, it sits (and works)

Forgot to mention that I am getting a MSI x299 SLI pro and the Wi-Fi card that I am getting is an ASUS PCE AC56

A smaller card will fit into a larger PCIE slot. No issues, no buts of ifs. It just works.
