Games with big worlds that I can just explore?

kelvinhall05

Think sort of like Minecraft; there are basically endless worlds, and you don't have to worry about surviving, dying, fighting other players, etc. I want something I can just relax while playing. Are there any games like this? I'd prefer them to be free or as cheap as possible. Thanks!

No man's sky is... okay...

Also you can play EVE and WoW super passively and not get involved in anything.

it's time

Unfortunately nothing quite comes to mind that is simply a chill game with a procedural generated game. Sadly the only games that comes to mind are No Mans Sky and Space Engineers. The biggest issue is that there are very few games with a system that can generate a certain level endless space. I can name quite a few with a lot to explore that have a limit, but endless is a tough one to answer.

One of my favorite chill out games is Eurotruck simulator, you pick up a load and just drive it to its destination. You can load up a radio station with a bunch of your own music too.

7 days to die came to mind right away until you said not worry about surviving, dying lol

Have to agree with this. After playing it for nearly 1.5 years, I have only 50% of the map already covered. It takes a really long time.

No Man's Sky used to be my thing. I also heard they have multiplayer coming eventually.

Eve online is a game that will soak up as much time as you throw at it.  At the same time it's as intense as you want it to be.  A friend of mine got the game just because he wanted to orbit the station and listen to the music.  It is a free to play game and you could simply go mine in a frigate or haul items between markets.  Maybe even do simple quests.  It's a game that you can for the most part relax while doing.  With all of that said I have a couple years into the game and can't play it any more due to the time sink involved, also depending on how you play it is possible to have a ship pop and loose x number of hours invested like that.

Isn't that expensive? I've also heard it's quite a bad game...

Endless isn't a requirement, just big, really.

I had Eurotruck at one point, I didn't enjoy it. Seems like it would be a lot more fun with a wheel and pedals, which I don't have.

I'll try it. I've seen it on Steam, but never bothered downloading it.

You didn't say it had to be good......xD

And given the reviews, it's pretty cheap these days.

I know some pretty big open world games, which yes, they don't have ENDLESS worlds, but they are so big, you'll most likely not get round to finishing them.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt DOES have a plot, but you don't have to do it. If you really want, you can just do sidequests, or even just explore

Same as Skyrim and Fallout, yet their worlds are a little smaller.

All three of these games can have an easy mode, so you don't need to worry about dying :)

Spore, is alright... But it could have been better, it's about evolution and stuff made in 2009 with a cartoony feel.

If you like creating weird creatures and exploring procedurally generated worlds then it could be one for you (Personally I thought the space stage was a little boring, but I found the rest pretty fun)

Elder Scrolls Arena or Daggerfall.
This may be helpful:

Spoiler

Borderlands 1/2

World of Warcraft
Random free online MMO games.
Skyrim
Fallout 3 might have the most exploring of any modern Fallout game.
Fallout 2 has more areas to go to than Fallout 1.
Shadow of Mordor
Stalker games. I'd say Call of Pripyat with the Call of Chernobyl modset will give you the most Exploritory mod experience of being a nomad you can get in gaming.
Minecraft & terraria might have something random for you.
And finally... Text based adventure games.

Edit:
You can level up really quickly in World of warcraft now.
With that, you get a mount at highest free level so you can just walk all over the map. I used to walk everywhere when it was difficult and everything killed you in like 1 hit. It's way easier to explore now.

Ima make a weird suggestion.

Minecraft with mods. There's many mods that can allow it to have different biomes, new worlds (Like the end etc).

I'm going to side with what @Jrock is saying: Minecraft offers the experience you want, if you tweak it a little (which is quite easy to do considering the VAST mod base that game has). Should you want to stick a more vanilla experience, you can just set your gamemode to Easy or Peaceful and play in Creative mode. Tons of options honestly.
