Thank you all for your amazing feedback! I think I will go with the oculus rift due to it being $50 cheaper, having better controls, and even if I did get the Vive I don't have a big enough playing space to benefit from roomscale vr (all i need is like a 10ft square)

I am in a HUGE "kerfuffle". I currently have the option to buy an Oculus Rift $300 or an HTC Vive for $350. PLZ help I have been on the fence for weeks.

I would grab the Rift, but that is personal preference.

the vive allows for more movement in a larger area then the rift.

The Vive's motion tracking is superior to the Rift.

 

I've only ever used the Rift, but I've heard very good things about both.

For $50 more the VIve is a MUUUUUCH better deal. Go with the vive you will regret the oculus

The Oculus controllers are better. Oculus took another half year to polish their controllers. Valve has been showing off their knuckles controllers for a while now, and they would likely be considerably better, but there's no info on when they'll launch.

Thank you all for your amazing feedback! I think I will go with the oculus rift due to it being $50 cheaper, having better controls, and even if I did get the Vive I don't have a big enough playing space to benefit from roomscale vr (all i need is like a 10ft square)

Definitely Oculus. More comfortable and very immersive controllers. No real benefits to vive other than "tracking," and unless you have a room greater than 5m x 5m, rift's tracking is the same/better than vive.
