Are chipset drivers necessary?

Hi guys!

 

I just got my new PC which contains the 2200G! :). As I installed the drivers for the PC, I came across Gigabyte's chipset driver which was around a gigabyte (pun unintended). So, as the file was large, I wondered whether it would be necessary to download it....

 

 

PC

 

CPU : Ryzen 3 2200G

RAM: G SKILL Ripjaws 8GB 2400Mhz

MoBo: GigaByte A320M - HD2

Storage: WD Green SSD

Case: Cooler Master 

PSU: Cooler Master Elite 400W

I never cared, and nothing goes wrong.

I have never really cared, Windows 10 installs chipset drivers automatically from Windows Update anyway.

You don't need to install or download any drivers.

Go to windows update and check for updates and let it install whatever it needs.

It would be the one driver to install besides GPU driver. It handles everything that isn't handled by added chips (LAN, audio, any extra SATA ports).
