How to ruin your custom loop fun

After  running for 9 months I decided that it was time for some maintenance on my custom loop (11 days ago).

Took apart the entire loop, opened the blocks, made them clean with some H2O and an old tooth brush. Replaced all the soft tubing with new tubing.

Assembled the loop again, added H2O with Primochill SysPrep and let it run for 48 hours.

Drained the loop again... Flushed it so many times with H2O that all the SysPrep was 100% gone.

After 3 days without my PC I was really happy when I could add the new coolant. I chose Primochill Vue because it looked awesome.

Mistakes were made that day :(

After 6 days all my blocks are completely gunked-up with some kind of pink powder. My tubing isn't clear anymore but really badly stained (will add a picture for comparison).

Now I can do all that f*cking maintenance again... -.-'

TL;DR : think really careful about using Primochill Vue, it looks awesome, but it can go bad really quickly and it will make your life miserable.

its been known that Primochill Vue is horrible and has some bad reactions and issues with some radiators and fittings. Its been advised for quite some time now to stay away from it as this is the end result, though 6 days is a new record for it doing this that I know of.

yeah VUE will mess your system up bad if you're not using all the same metals and as-new clean components. hell, even then sometimes it will just decide to start shedding gunk all over everything.

imo the best coolant is just distilled water, but yeah that won't have the cool effects :P

All my metals are the same. Cleaned everything as best as possible. New tubing. 48 hours of SysPrep. 5L of distilled water flushed through the loop. Made sure it was dry.

Still went bad in 6 days. The tubing looked like that within 24 hours :(

Now I've ordered a aircooler, reassembled my GPU and see if I can sell all that crap after cleaning it a bit. I'm done for xD

always best to do research and not take one source as the end all be all for information regarding something (even jay advocates this method in a lot of his videos). Hopefully this is a, sadly, hard lesson learned.

Distilled water with EK Cryofuel is all I use in my loop.

Yep! If you want color, would recommend you just get some dye to add instead of a complex fluid like the Vue.

Hey, another Enthoo Evolv user. You have a similar setup to mine it seems. I use the bottom HDD cage though and have a 240/280 for my Rads.

Orrr.... you use my way of doing things :D

Distilled + any coolant solution seems to do the trick

With sleeved Tubing your loop still looks fine! :)

I wanted to do the same thing as you did. But I was unable to do it because of my 360 rad top. I wasn't really happy with the HDD placement + the removal of the bottom 3.5" cages.

I also dislike the case though... Airflow is soooo bad. You bought a modded front panel which is really necessary for that case.

I had high hopes for Vue to the point where I bought the Sterling Silver and it was waiting patiently for me to assemble the loop.

In hindsight I'm glad I took a slow approach to building my rig because by the time I was finished and needed to fill it, I became convinced that the only advocates for Vue were few lucky guys and a lot more in denial.

The amount of work you have to put to follow all those instructions is incredible. Primochill wanted to make every day alternative to Aurora and they ended up making a different type of Aurora.

Clearly champagne was popped too soon.

If you want more space, you should mod the top and place your fans underneath it. I have 6 fans in my build, but you can only see the one in the back. Also modded the top and front panel so no airflow issues, might be worth it if you are stuck with the case. You still have space to slide the front rad up, why did you mount it so low?

I tried all I can to mount that rad higher but I was unable to mount it with the basement section still closed. Don't know what made it impossible to mount it, but I've tried all I could think of before giving up on it...
