Why is Oreo just as dumb as Nougat?

Short version I installed a SD-card then SD-card was filled with apps and the only way to make Android install more is to remove the SD card because Oreo is to dumb to know that the local memory has plenty of space left! O3O ANDROID Y U DO DIS?!!!

Another issue is why is it using SD-card before it used all the local memory...

that's even weirder. Maybe that's why huawei removed sd cards from their new phones and just give x2 memory by default?

did a quick search on google but most people seem to struggle from internal to sd card.

 

Time to uninstall all the apps and reinstall them in the correct location...

Just wondering why you're installing apps to the SD? I know this isn't a default feature & has to be done manually. It's slower than internal, fragments the files & you lose apps if the card gets dislodged for any reason.

I can only assume that if your device can run Oreo, you already have plenty of internal storage, so.........? 

I haven't put apps on an SD since running Kitkat on a $30 'smartphone' from Walmart and I seem to recall the feature was removed in Lollipop. 

So I'm curious why.

Phones such as the HMD Nokia 3 & Cherry Mobile S6 Flare both only have 16GB storage which is nice to increase with a SD card and there is no issue to load from SD card unless the SD card is a potato! O3O

From my understanding this is not a "Google Issue". Stock Android to my understanding does NOT have any SD card support. Thats why none of Google branded phones ever had SD card slots. This feature is implemented by the manufacture of the phone, Android is open source after all.

No Nokia is not Google. So they most likely don't use stock Android. Hell most manufacturers add shit in the the OS. Samsung, LG, HTC, etc. All of them use modified Android OS. This is why most phones maybe get one or two OS updates.

But Nokia promote that they use stock Android or as close as it gets to be stock Android under the ONE brand.

It might be close, but unless you buy the fucker from Google, you cant be sure what you are getting. Thats the point. Nokia only offers two years of OS upgrades, so I would say its still modified. As I stated, there are many devices out there that have features added. If the phone has an SD card slot, then its NOT 100% stock. SD card support does not exist in stock Android and hasnt for quite a while. So close but no cigar.

Well I guess the camera app might also be from Nokia, tough the ONE branded phones seems to use a Google made camera app but I am not quite sure... But yeah I prefer buying cheapo phone then add SD-card, ennaable forced 2d GPU rendering and finally disable animations!

I never said stock Android is good. I mean I dont own a Google device, I have a One Plus 3t. The fact is people bitch about features that Google its self has not implemented. To many people are ignorant to the fact Android is Open Source, so that each Android device can be different from others. Ive had to deal with people who bought cheap ass Android devices to find no Google Play support. Its just the nature of the beast. 

 

The issues with the custom version is that most companies like Samsung only update the device to a new OS version maybe once or twice. Thats why people shit on custom Android OS builds.

Nope but found this article online when I was researching about using an SD card as an internal storage with Android 6... Was planning to use an SD card for internal storage. Would appreciate if you would give some advice/ guide on looking for an SD card to be use as internal storage and also the pros and cons of using an SD card as an internal storage

I see but when I check on storage it shows internal and external even if format as internal is done, which is really weird instead of them being separate they should have merged but Oreo does not seem to do that...

But does it allow you to install any apps from the play store to the SD card if it's formatted as internal?

I found out the hard way that "move to SD card" is App dev dependant, not OS/device dependent. If the developer/app does not want you to, it will not allow you.

I found a app that lets you do this regardless but the app(if the app you want to move is market as not for SD card) claims its not a good idea and the app may stop to function properly, mot cases it was no issue at all.
