I want a CPU that does me well for streaming, gaming as well as video editing. I would like it not to be too expensive either and preferably overclockable.

Thanks. :)

P.S: I will be gaming, streaming and editing at 1080p with a Gtx 1070 Ti. I'm getting a 144hz monitor so I am looking for 144 fps performance with my game looking decent. I was going to get the i7 8700k but it's on the expensive side and I would much prefer something cheaper. I was also looking at the i5 8600k which is a lot more in my budget but I am not too sure if I should get an AMD CPU instead or if you have any better recommendations.

I am using higher end video editing software like Sony Vegas Pro 15 and Adobe Premiere Pro.

Thanks. :)

Look for a Ryzen 2700X.

It's an 8 core, 16 thread chip, runs boost at 4.3GHz and is overclockable.

It is also cheaper than the 8700k.

8700k - $375 USD

2700x - $345 USD

Exactly. I am guessing that OP doesn't have a gen 1 CPU to update it with.

a Bios update that could have been done already in the factory, or by just ordering a bootkit off AMD and updating it that way.

Will the Wraith Prism stock cooler be enough for overclocking, however? I heard good things about it but not sure if it will be enough. How much will I be able to overclock it? I'm looking for about 4Ghz.

The cooler will do great. It is miles ahead of the intel stock cooler. You can go up to around 4.0GHz, but anything after that I recommend an aftermarket cooler, such as a 212 evo, noctua nh-d15 or an AIO.

the wraith prism is about the same in performance as a 212 evo.

If you're lucky you can find a new i7-7700k on eBay for $239. I overclocked it to 5.3GHz 1.4v max (haven't gone father... Yet). Does 5G at 1.265v. Real Gem. Consider that I'm using MSI Z20 SLI that was also $99 on eBay.

$60 H100i GTX also from eBay. Also used on a Pentium G4600.. for "looks"

Either you wait for the new chipsets to be available/cheaper or you can buy a B350 from a place where they offer to do BIOS upgrades for you. For a small fee you can often get them to do the BIOS upgrade and then you can just plug your CPU in and you are good to go.

Is there a way I can buy already updated B350 Motherboards online?

Do you want Intel or AMD more? More cores and bang for your buck on AMD. Higher frequency and maybe a gem CPU on Intel.

Edit- i5-8600k is perfect for you. Or if you want best of the best get a i7.

Quite a few people here told me to stick with the 2700X. So I guess I'll go with that.

Just saying. If you Overclock a 8700k, you're going to get quite below a mutlicore threaded 2700x but not by to much. Either way, the 8700k has better single core no matter what. Also QC performance is higher. Do you really need 8c/16t for streaming and editing?

4cores can be in gaming, 2 can use the stream, therotically. Render is going to be on the GPU which you can easliy slap the vitage and heat to Max and bump the memory 300+ and core 100+ when you get it. No doubt about it that will give you another 5-12FPS boost added onto the the higher single core and quad-core performance. Then if need to OC the CPU to 4.8 or higher, maybe extra 2-5fps (low guess, don't want to exaggerat).

I stream sometimes with my i7-7700k without a problem max settings on a multitude of games. OBS is good, also GeForce Share (tends to mess up description tho). I fully accept what you pick, although I'm bit Intel Fanboy, I'll buy a AMD system sooner or later. I just grew up with Intel, that's my issue. I'm just stuck with what I really know, and what I can do. TBH I have no idea on how to Overclock a AMD CPU or use the BIOs for them, but that's a good start for me.

Yeah, I guess but do I really need to spend the extra money on the i7 and then extra to get a cooler when I can get the 2700x with the Wraith Spire Prism for less than the actual i7? I doubt the extra gaming performance is really worth the $50-100 I will be spending to get the i7.

go to a physical store and ask the shops to have it updated, or just update it yourself. it's not hard, just make a bootable drive with rufus, place the files in and use AMD's bootkit to update it.

Will the Wraith Prism stock cooler be enough for overclocking, however? I heard good things about it but not sure if it will be enough. How much will I be able to overclock it? I'm looking for about 4Ghz.

No point in overclocking. You will likely lose performance unless you hit 4.2 ghz

Why is that. You can make any thing above 3.7 on either chips as base and turbo the rest of the way.

The thing boosts to like 4.0 to 4.1 out of the box on all cores and boosts to 4.3 to 4.35 on one to two cores. So it's hard to beat that unless you hit 4.2 on all cores.
