The top case is only listed as being compatible with the 2015 Macbook on iFixit: https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Mac/MacBook-12-Inch-Retina-Early-2015-Upper-Case-with-Keyboard/IF301-001-1 and there is no top case part for the 2016 Macbook: https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Mac/MacBook-Retina-2016. So it's likely it won't fit.

My Macbook has water damage and I need to repair/replace some of the components of the chassis, including the topcase and trackpad

Does anyone know or has tried to use a 2015 topcase on a 2016 model?

From my understanding the ribbon cables (flex cables) are interchangeable, so would it be safe to say or assume that the whole topcase is compatible?

Thanks in advance!

There is absolutely 0 compatibility between 2015 and 2016 MacBook Pro parts. The cases are not interchangeable.

Thanks djdwosk97! Glad there's someone out there who can provide proof rather than be an arrogant know it all
