So I am in need of a new chair. I have a piece of garbage that hurts my back big time. My budget is like ~250$ USD and as for height and weight I am 5' 5 and weigh 125 pounds. Color preferences would be black/white, black/blue, or all black.

Do you specifically want a motorsport-like "gaming" chair? Or do you just want a chair to use while gaming (otherwise known as a chair)?

My personal advice would be to not go for a "gaming" chair because I think they're ridiculous, marketing heavy rip-offs (like a lot of "gamer"/"gaming" branded things). I'd suggest going to a store with a selection of chairs (Costco, IKEA, Staples etc.) and sit in them until you find one that is comfortable to you. Office chairs are what you should really look for in terms of quality and comfort. They don't look as flashy as "gaming" chairs, but you'll get more for your money.

Well I kind of do like the gamer aesthetic, but I also assume that a few are at least decent considering every big YouTuber and streamer has one. And yeah it could just be a fad/scammy chair design, but they have to be somewhat alright if streamers sit in them for 10 hours a day.

Also there are no costco/ikea type things near me.

Chairs go from

$100 or less amazon basic's chair

$250-300 racing chairs, I'd go for a Fabric one, have one and it works pretty well.
https://www.amazon.com/GT-Omega-Racing-Office-Fabric/dp/B00F1MC7G2/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1525568800&sr=8-15&keywords=GT+Omega

Or $1000 Steelcase chairs.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I've never used any gaming chair but try getting one with ergonomically correct back. If possible go into a store and try it before buying it.

Alternatively you could use your cases box if it is tall enough xD I actually chose it over a chair for 1-1.5 years... (but that was 10+ years ago)

Or go all out like a boss*

*Note: I take no responsibilities for taking over the world scemes, or the chair being actually uncomfortable.

Musgrove+Mid-Back+Desk+Chair.jpg

but the whole base broke because it was made of shi**y plastic instead of wood/metal

I hope you're not referring to my la z boy...

But yea, I'm actually using this type of chair xD https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/00211088/

Should really "upgrade" at some point in the future...

Maybe this might be of some interest to OP? They are actually quite comfortable. (USA Amazon has cheaper options)

I wanna stay away from amazon basic chairs, the reviews don't look great and my friend has one and its a no go for me. As far as gaming chairs, what are the reputable brands and good chair types for me to buy?

Its best not to buy them online or such, best to go to a real store and sit in them because its a personal preferance from the person and the chair as they are all different, bums and chairs.

What stores would you recommend? I have like walmart and thats basically it. I live in Glasgow, Kentucky. No Ikeas or Costco's nearby

No idea if they would have a setup for it tho... There is apparently no pickup option there either according to their website.

What about the actual sites for the gaming chairs? Like vertagear or DXracer

The ones on the WAN show are here, but I've never used them...

http://www.needforseatusa.com/computer_office_gaming_chairs_casual_sport

Beyond that the only ones I've seen that I could sit in (but haven't) are these guys: https://www.amazon.com/AKRacing-Backrest-Recliner-Adjustment-Mechanisms/dp/B06XCY1QRB/

Weirdly the Nitro version is cheaper in canada than it is on amazon.com...

I can tell you this, even chairs that look comfortable aren't (I took one from a coworker (who took it from someones office, it's ok they got another one) and claimed it as my own because the one given to me was complete bs)... as stated above best to test it out. Sadly where you live you kinda have a crumby selection of places w/o travel. If possible head to Staples as they might be your best bet (esp if they are anything like here).

I haven’t tried other brands, but do not buy from Maxnomic. It feels like you are sitting on a brick, and it caused me a ton of back pain. Chairs are completely personal preference, but I wouldn’t buy from Maxnomic.

I haven’t used any other brands of gaming chairs, so I can not comment. If I were you, I would fine a local store that sells gaming chairs, and sit in a few. Choose whichever you like. Chairs are completely personal preference.
