Hey guys so I will be going to university in about a year to a different country (to Canada) and I want to start looking at potential laptops (including expensive ones as the prices will hopefully drop over a year).

So here is the case, I will be studying computer science/ software engineering and thus will be coding, I will be video editing during my free time (up-to 20 minutes of 1080p videos)  and even gaming over occasions (like AAA games such as Battle field 1)

I am looking for an extremely portable device such as the surface pro, xps and asus notebooks, but I have figured out that I will for sure  buy an external gpu to satisfy these needs ( I am currently looking at https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814932011 as it is the most affordable and comes directly with the GPU) and I will have a dual monitor setup of at (21.5"-23" inch monitors with nonexistent bezels)

So if you guys have any suggestions as to what type of specs I should go for the laptop please do let me know or if you have direct suggestions of which laptop i should buy please do leave a link as well

Note: I am not entertaining the possibility of a separate laptop and PC as I want real flexibility and don't want huge laptops which weigh a ton, I want really sleek and elegant laptops)

Thank you for you time and help.

Just now, Canada EH said:

So Toronto or Vancouver

Univercity I assume

both tough choices, but I'd stay away from Ontario, BC is so much nicer.

Go to Memory Express store and buy your laptop there.

I mostly want to know spec details like do i need quad core i7 7th gen or would dual core i5 do just fine for my usage and stuff like that

I would say the MSI GS65 that can come with either a 1060 Max-Q or even a 1070 all with a 6-core Intel processor ( i7-8750H) boost to 4.1 GHz Plus it has a 144Hz display.  if you want a detailed look https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16834154808

especially if you are coming to Canada.

Good luck
